Membership

The Artists’ Gallery of Ellicott City is an artist-owned cooperative gallery. Membership is limited to twenty artists. When at capacity, we still jury additional artists to fill vacancies as they open.

Membership benefits include:

  • Exhibition in bi-monthly shows
  • Opportunity to be featured in a solo or small group show on a rotating basis
  • Display of business cards
  • For 2D artists: greeting cards and unframed originals or prints in bins
  • For 3D artists: small items in a gift corner
  • Representation on the gallery’s website

Membership requirements and responsibilities Include:

  • Body of fresh and current work available for bi-monthly rotation
  • Payment of annual dues
  • Gallery sitting 3 times per month in addition to helping out at special events
  • Attendance at monthly membership meetings
  • Responsibility for arrangements and expenses related to solo or small group shows where the member’s work is specifically featured
  • Participation in daily operation of the gallery and on at least one gallery committee
  • Gallery commission on sales

To apply, fill out our membership application (Word, PDF) and email it along with 3-4 images of your current work to membership@artistsgalleryec.com. If qualified, our membership committee will reach out to conduct a phone interview.

Member selection is determined through a jurying process. Selection is based on artistic ability, the professional quality of the artist’s work and compatibility with other member’s style and work. Only artwork created by the applicant will be considered. To be considered for membership, the applicant must provide:

  • 3 to 5 pieces of original work in the media to be exhibited
  • Digital images of additional work
  • Artist’s resume and statement
  • Press reviews, if available
